Baking a Ham...

Llano Seco Organic Hickory Smoked, Uncured Traditional Holiday Ham

Baking in the Oven, Glazed or Au Naturel

For ham to be hot in the center, it must come to an internal temperature of 130 degrees. Although Llano Seco Organic Holiday Hams are fully cooked, heating in the oven enhances the flavor.

Some customers like to slow-bake the hams at around 200 degrees while others prefer baking for a shorter period of time above 300 degrees. You can glaze your ham with your favorite glaze recipe or bake it au naturel.

If you've never baked a ham before, you might want to try these simple heating instructions:

Bring ham to room temperature. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake for 10-12 minutes per pound. About 15 or 20 minutes before the total baking time is up, test with a meat thermometer to see if the internal temperature has reached 130 degrees. If so, you can remove from oven. Be sure not to press the thermometer into the bone, as you want the temperature of the meat only. Times may vary depending on your oven. Allow to rest 15 minutes before carving.

NOTE: You can follow these same instructions whether you are glazing your ham or not.
