Certified Organic and Healthy for Your Family

There are NO added hormones, antibiotics, nitrites/nitrates, artificial ingredients or preservatives in Llano Seco Organic Pork. All of us at Llano Seco are passionate about bringing the most delicious organic pork products to your table.

You can feel good about buying our certified organic pork for your family. The strict organic protocols certified by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) ensure that Llano Seco is following the USDA's organic standards. Before Llano Seco's products could be labeled "organic," CCOF thoroughly inspected the ranch and our operations to make sure all processes were in place to consistently meet the USDA organic standards. Additionally, the local company that makes the Llano Seco Organic Pork products (ham, bacon, sausages) has been inspected and "Certified Organic" by CCOF as well.

The USDA further requires that certified organic food be produced by growers who "emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations (USDA)." This goes hand in hand with our sustainable ranching practices. You can read more about our sustainable ranching philosophy and conservation efforts below.

Humane Care and Handling

We follow a set of protocols in order to ensure our animals are always treated humanely. With plenty of access to sunshine and fresh air, they engage in their natural behaviors: run outside, root, roll around in the dirt and dig for rocks ~ all the things pigs love to do. We do not dock our pigs' tails or alter their physical state whatsoever. They are fed a high quality organic, vegetarian diet of wheat, soybean meal, peas and corn plus vitamins and minerals. Watch the Llano Seco video to learn more about how we care for our animals.

Our concern for the animals does not stop at the ranch. Like our customers, who care deeply about animal welfare, we want to make sure that every animal has a humane and respectful end to its life. Our local processor is USDA inspected and also Certified Humane by Humane Farm Animal Care, meaning they follow a strict set of protocols for humane handling, food safety and environmental regulations.

Sustainable Ranching + Land Conservation

Llano Seco operates in an eco-friendly cycle of sustainability, taking great care to minimize our impact on the environment. We feed the hogs organic, vegetarian feed; the hogs produce manure; we use that manure to fertilize our organic crops and produce more organic food. There is little to no waste. It's also important to note that our hog operation does not produce any wastewater run-off that could pollute the surrounding land and water—not one drop.

We work to conserve the natural beauty of the ranch and join forces with other groups to restore native grasslands, wetlands, oak savannas and riparian forests to preserve and grow the diversity of animal and plant life on the ranch. We're immensely proud that Llano Seco Rancho was awarded a 2009 Wetlands Award for Land Stewardship by the Environmental Law Institute.

100% Traceable and Source Verified

Every one of our animals is raised here on Llano Seco Rancho in Chico, California. We do not use meat from other growers and label it with our name. We can say with confidence that our pork is 100% traceable and source verified from Llano Seco Rancho.
